Now that my toddler is learning numbers, I have been looking for new ways for him to practice them. We have a few puzzles where the numbers only fit in their designated spots which has helped him begin to learn them in order, but he is at the point that he needs more of a challenge. This is where the Penny Blocks from BeginAgain comes in!
All Begin Again toys are made of eco-friendly products:
- Natural rubber
- Natural cotton fabrics
- Sustainably harvested woods
- Wheat starch plastic
The Penny Blocks set contains ten 1.25 inch wood blocks, stained with non toxic, child safe stains. Each block has a number 1-10 printed on one side. These blocks fit side by side in a long narrow storage box. I would prefer if the set contained a lid to keep the blocks in place when not in use, but that is not a major issue unless we were to travel with them.
Not only do these blocks teach number order but your child can practice colors, stacking, and even basic math! After taking the blocks out of the box one by one, he stacked them up, laughing when they fell over. It taught him not to give up. If the stack fell over, he just tried again.
BeginAgain has several other toys to offer besides the Penny Blocks. With beginner puzzles, kicking balls, and even an artist on-the-go set, there is quite a variety to choose from. Intended to inspire imagination and develop skills while not compromising the planet, these toys have definitely made their way into our 2013 Holiday Gift Guide!
