June 22nd – Take Your Dog to Work Day!

Did you know that June 22 is Take Your Dog to Work Day?

Bil-Jac Super Premium Dog Food has provided me with some information regarding Take Your Dog to Work Day!

First celebrated in 1999, Take Your Dog To Work Day was created to celebrate the great companions dogs make and to encourage their adoption from humane societies, animal shelters and breed rescue clubs. This annual event asks pet lovers to celebrate the human-canine bond and promote pet adoption by encouraging their employers to support TYDTW Day by opening their workplace to employees’ four-legged friends on this one special day.

Furthermore, according to a recent study by the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association, one in five U.S. companies already allow employees to bring their pets to work. It’s no surprise – pets are natural stress relievers and can create a pleasant work environment!

Are you bringing your pup to work today? If so, here are some tips and etiquette suggestions to make sure your furry friend is a hit at the office!

  • Your workplace will most likely be a new environment for your pet, which could cause some anxiety!  Bring familiar items, such as your dog’s favorite snack or toy, to make your dog comfortable with the new atmosphere.
  • Make a plan! Is your office puppy proof? Do you know a good spot for potty breaks?
  • Keep your pet contained! Keep your dog on a leash or created a confined space for your dog to roam around.
  • Bring plenty of food and water to keep your dog satisfied and avoid your dog becoming a distraction.

Blogging Challenge: Day 3 (What I like about being a blogger)

Some blogger friends and I realized that our readers don’t know much about us and that we would start a fun 30-day blogger challenge.  Each day we will address a different topic.
Have fun reading and feel free to comment below the post!

Day 3: What do I like about being a blogger?

1. I am a stay at home mom and blogging gives me a hobby outside of housework.  I have seen my little guy up there in the picture grow from birth to nearly 13 months old so far and been there to teach him everything. Let’s just say my husband is a bit jealous :)

2. Reviews!  As a blogger, I sometimes get free stuff or discounts in order to share my honest opinion about the products on my blog.  I have come across some amazing products this way!  It does take a lot of time to actually test out the product thoroughly, type up my honest opinion and share it with my readers.  I often try to include giveaways for my readers which are also a lot of work to put together but it makes my day when I get a happy response from a winner.

3. I have made some great friends through blogging.  While most of my work is via the internet, I still have made some great friends.  Some of them even met each other at a blogging conference (I was unable to go due to the distance it was from me) and I can’t wait until my opportunity to meet them as well.

4. I love finding freebies, deals and giveaways and sharing them with others who may need them.  Living with low income in my house since I was a little girl, I appreciate anything that saves me money but gets me what I want, and I like to share that with my readers.

Day 2: Three of my fears

1. Crashing in a plane.  I have flown to Hawaii and back twice and I made the mistake of watching the show Lost.  I know plane crashes are rare but as soon as turbulence hits, I can’t help but grab the arm rests and fear the worst.

2. Spiders. I do not mind seeing spiders…I do not mind them being in my yard… but once they come inside, they are in my territory.  I read once about a spider that when it bites, your blood basically turns to jello consistency within 10 minutes.  I’m not sure if this is true but the thought of a spider bite being deadly freaks me out!

3. Reckless drivers. I have fear of those who drive recklessly and put me and my family in danger when we are driving.  Every time it happens, I can’t help but see the wreck play out in my head and wonder what would have happened if I hadn’t slowed down at quite the right moment.  I have known too many people who have been in horrible accidents and even a few who have died from them.
