Feed your kids on-the-go with the Sili Squeeze

When my boys and I first discovered squeezable baby food, it was bittersweet.  On one hand, the pouches were handy to take in the diaper bag and easily feed my kids while we were on the go.  On the other hand, they were at least twice the price of the baby food jars we normally purchased.  After spending more than I would like on baby food pouches, I came across the Sili Squeeze.

Created by a mom, the Sili Squeeze was developed specifically for babies and toddlers.  It is a reusable silicone pouch intended to hold baby food, smoothies, yogurt or other smooth snacks.  All pieces are BPA-PVC-Phalate-free and dishwasher safe.  The Sili Squeeze is intended to be portable and it definitely is!

One thing you need to know is that there are two variations of the Sili Squeeze.  The main difference is in the “nipple” of the pouch.  The original Sili Squeeze has an X cut in the top, requiring the child to suck the food out with a bit of effort, whereas the Sili Squeeze with Eeze is an open hole, letting the food flow more easily.  If your child is used to the baby food pouches from the grocery store, you may want to try the Sili Squeeze with Eeeze.   I received one of each to review with my toddlers.

The Sili Squeeze is perfect for moms who like to make their own baby food and smoothies.  Since I had baby food in a jar handy, I went ahead and poured that in instead.  I do need to note real quick that my 1 year old will not suck from a sippy cup yet and prefers a baby bottle.  I had hoped he might be interested in at least chewing on the Sili Squeeze products but he showed no interest in either when he realized it would actually take work to get that food out.  My 2 1/2 year old, on the other hand, stuck around to try both for a bit longer.  It took a little convincing but he eventually sucked as much as he could out.  Since he is used to the store bought baby food pouches, he did much better using the Sili Squeeze with Eeeze.

Overall, the Sili Squeeze is a great concept and a definite convenience for moms.  While my kids were not as interested in them as I had hoped, I think that they will adjust to them over time.  Until then, we will just have to keep trying.  Maybe I will have to try my hand in the kitchen and see what I can come up with that they just can’t pass up!
