I’ll admit it: I love technology. Sometimes it really helps a mom out! Just recently, we got a second car, and this changed a lot for our family! Now I can take my toddlers out while my husband is at work. We are no longer confined to our home during his work hours. In the past few weeks, we have taken several trips to local indoor play places here in Central Illinois which have let my toddlers socialize even when it is too hot to play at the park. A few weeks ago, we had a late start and headed to some stores first. As we finished up and headed to the mall’s play place, I realized that my husband would be off work soon. I wanted to give him a heads up so he could meet us there. Since he was at work, a phone call may disrupt, but a text would not. However, there was one problem – many states, including Illinois have created new laws that all cell phone use must be hands-free…not to mention how dangerous it can be to text and drive! So either I had to pull over and park to call or text him, or break the law while endangering my kids as I drove. << I’m not one to put my children in any unnecessary danger, or break laws, so naturally, I pulled over instead…for any of you who wondered! >>
Had I known about the speeCup at this time, my day would have been a lot easier! I could have simply pressed a button, told Siri to text my husband a message, and been on our way. Talk about convenience!
The speeCup…what is it?
It’s pretty much everything a bluetooth speaker should be. Created by iCreation, Inc, this speaker is unique and perfect for on-the-go parents!
Here are the features as listed on their website:
- Integrated noise canceling microphone for hands-free communication
- Intuitive top mounted smartControl includes Gesture control
- Bluetooth range up to 30 feet
- Built-in rechargeable lithium ion battery for up to 20 hours of use
- Aux line-out jack for Bluetooth streaming audio to car and home audio systems
The speeCup is available in 3 colors: red, black, and white. The unique shape allows it to fit in the cup holder of your car or on your bike using the sport koozie pictured below. At a quick glance, the speaker could be mistaken for a travel coffee cup because of the size and shape. The koozie was a bit difficult to remove, however that’s a great thing – now I won’t have to worry the speeCup will slip out as I am riding my bike.
Being Siri and S Voice activated, the speaker can play text, play music, and place or answer phone calls via bluetooth. Not only does it have easily accessible buttons on top, but it also has gesture control. This makes it easier to control without taking your eyes off the road – a must-have for parents! Now I can simply press a button, tell Siri to text my husband and voila…safe, legal texting while driving!
While it felt a bit hefty at first, I quickly learned that the 8″ tall speaker was worth it. The sound quality of most bluetooth speakers leaves something to be desired, but the speeCup has strong bass and can get very loud – loud enough that streaming music from your phone while in the car is a viable option.
The built-in rechargable battery is impressive with up to 20 hours of use, and a stand-by time of 336 hours. If the battery is running low while you are out, just plug it into your car with the included micro usb cable and ac adapter.
As a parent, I highly recommend the speeCup by iCreation. With a long-lasting battery, gesture control, and quality sound, it is a must-have!
