4 Common Essentials to Have Before Having a Play Date at Home for your Kids

4 Common Essentials to Have Before Having a Play Date at Home for your Kids

Your children are certain to bring a large amount of happiness to your life. From the time your kids are born until adulthood, you will want to encourage and be there for your family. One of the easier things to do that will enable your kids to have fun and be sociable with friends is by scheduling a play date at your home. This can be something that all the children involved look forward to attending and can be an ideal way to spend a weekend with your kids. However, there are certain things you will want to have in place beforehand and knowing some of the basic essentials is sure to be helpful in making this event both fun and entertaining for all.

Comfortable surroundings

Of course, you’ll want to ensure all of the children are comfortable in your home. During the summer months when the temperatures are soaring, this means relying on air conditioning to keep your home nice and cool.

The last thing you want is inviting kids over and having a house that is too hot and could even make some of the children leave. By ensuring the thermostat is set at the right number, this can prevent this from occurring at all.

Toys and entertainment

There isn’t anything that can make a play date more fun than having the right toys. You may want to be sure you have interactive toys that will help keep the kids entertained at all times.

Of course, if you want to step it up a notch and get the attention of the neighborhood kids, you may want to even rent out a bounce house. Studies show that you can typically rent this item for $100-$250 per day. This is one of the ideal ways to enable your child and any friends to have the best possible time during a play date.

Other ideas include making the home more festive by having balloons in it and another décor that makes it look more like a place for fun. Additionally, you could have toys with tie-ins to popular movies to keep things current.

Food and drinks

Kids love to snack and enjoy a variety of foods when having fun. It’s ideal to plan accordingly for this by having a vast array of food choices for all the kids that attend.

You may even want to have a specially made cake if your child is having a birthday or other special celebration. This is sure to increase the excitement of the kids and allow all of the attendees to indulge a sweet tooth for the day.

Other things you may want to serve can be simple but satisfying, such as hamburgers, hot dogs, potato chips, and cookies. While this may not be the healthiest menu, it’s sure to be one all the kids will love, and it’s only for a day or two.

First-aid kit

While you hope there aren’t any minor incidents while having a play date, these can happen. When kids start venturing out to play it’s possible for scratches or cuts to be an unfortunate result.

This makes it a great idea to have a first-aid kit on hand that can be the best way to treat any mishaps that were to occur. Be sure to have some of the basics in the kit, such as band-aids, ointment and a mild type of pain reliever that may be suited for young kids.

Having this kit on hand is sure to give you the peace of mind you need if something was to happen.

The benefits of scheduling a play date for your kids are many. This can be the key to making your children happier and is also a very good idea when it comes to allowing your children to be more sociable in the process. This event may take a bit of planning but is sure to be worthwhile when you see the happy faces of all the kids that can attend. One thing is for sure, and that’s your child is sure to appreciate all the effort you put forth into making the play date happen!

Wireless Phone Chargers – Yes or No?

Eliminate cords with wireless chargers! I love my Samsung Fast Charge Wireless Charger!

My answer is YES!  I have never liked cords. The sight behind our television used to give me major anxiety until my husband found a way to make it nice and organized…well, as much as cords can be anyways.  Now though, certain devices are becoming compatible with wireless charging, and my Samsung Galaxy S7 is one of them!

Like most cell phone users, I’ve gone through a lot of cords.  They wear out or they get lost.  Then there are users whose charging ports stop functioning.  This is where a wireless charger comes in especially helpful.  But be sure to grab a “fast” wireless charger if your phone supports it because it will make a difference in charging speed!

As I mentioned before, I have a Samsung Galaxy S7.  This phone supports “fast charge” through Qualcomm 2.0 technology.  What does this mean?  There is a technology that has been developed, tested, and approved for fast charging, and my phone works with it.  While searching around for wireless chargers, I found many that were cheap, but they didn’t support fast charging.  I ended up deciding to stick with the Samsung Wireless Charging Pad. This product is $30-60 depending where it is purchased.

Fast Wireless Charging - I love it!

So how does it work?  Well a cord is still involved in order to get electricity to the charger, but you can hide it out of sight and never have to see it again.  After making sure the charger is plugged in, it will flash a couple colors of light, then it will be ready to charge your phone.  Simply rest your phone on it and it will begin charging within a second or two.  You should be able to use it with or without a case.  I use a LifeProof case on my phone, which is thick, but it does not interfere with the charging.

The obvious pros to using a wireless charger are that you can just set the phone down to charge, then pick it up at your leisure without wearing out the charging port.  It is convenient on a desk, on an end table, or even on your nightstand.

The cons are that it is a bit slower than charging by cable.  By fast charge cable, that is.  My phone still charges faster via the fast wireless charger than a 1.0 cable, but it is still noticeably slower than the 2.0 cable.     My husband explained that some of the charge is lost through the process, making it a little slower.  With that being said, I am definitely glad I opted for the fast wireless charger than the regular one.  With high use, I was able to still lower my battery faster than it charged on the wireless charger.  I have not succeeded in doing that with the fast cable.

Any questions?  I am pretty excited to be able to just set my phone down and not worry about plugging a cable in the right way every time I want to boost its charge.  I still keep my Nomad key chain cable with me so I can always recharge on the go when necessary, but at home, I love being “cable-free!”

Please ensure that your wireless charger is certified to support the phone you are charging!
